IMO, your 12ga A-5 apparently has an altered serial number (illegal to buy/sell/possess under US Federal Law, barring an exemption letter from BATF).
I have a 1905 in considerably better condition and a straight grip.
I've been trying to date it, but not having very much luck. There are slight differences including the lack of a magazine cutoff switch on the Remington Model 11 shotguns.
The serial number of a Browning firearm is usually found on the gun's receiver, but that location depends on the model number and make of the gun.
Browning maintains a database of owner's manuals that can show gun owners exactly where the serial numbers are on their particular models.
